City Project Kids
What is City Project Kids? CPK is a Vacation Bible School program that is designed to include leading children in mercy ministry and community service projects. Each morning the children are lead in worship through music and a Bible lesson followed by hands-on projects that go to benefit the community. A time of application, recreation, snack and lunch are also enjoyed each day.
Where do the Children Serve in the Community? The 1st – 6th graders travel off-campus to visit local nursing homes to play games and visit with the grandmas and grandpas, we bake cookies for the families at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and write them encouragement cards; visit our widows at their homes and assist them with various age appropriate projects; write thank you cards to the grandmas and grandpas at the local nursing homes letting them know how much we enjoyed our visit; stock groceries at the local Food Pantry; plant gardens for our local elementary schools and serve our local library by assembling New Membership Packets.
Who Can Attend City Project Kids? CPK welcomes children ages 4 years – 5th grade. Registration opens the first week of May and it usually fills up quickly. Due to the nature of our program and traveling off-site, we are only able to accept 80 children. Registration is a fist-come, first-serve basis. A wait list is started once registration meets capacity.
Who can Volunteer for City Project Kids? Volunteer positions are for rising 6th graders or older. Leadership teams include Youth Assistants (this team is designed to help our young volunteers learn leadership skills and put them into practice), Sr. High Youth Team, Project Leaders, Group Leaders, Bible Teachers, and a Technology Team. If you are interested in serving, please talk with Heidi Shafer by calling the church office.
